Mar. 13--Wheels of cheese and tubs of butter will descend on the Monona Terrace next week for an event that organizers are modestly calling the largest such international contest in human history.
With 1,306 dairy entries from 19 nations, up 14 percent from the show's 2002 record of 1,144 entries, even contest organizer John Umhoefer of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association seemed surprised at the turnout from cheese makers from places like California.
