America's armed forces should treat the opium labs and smugglers in Afghanistan as "legitimate military targets" because they help fund Muslim terrorists and keep that country unstable, says Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.), chairman of the House Committee on International Relations.
"Opium production in Afghanistan not only undermines Afghan reconstruction but also fuels Islamist terror groups," Hyde said Feb. 12 during a hearing he convened to investigate the situation.
