It once belonged to theman behind the legend but now needs restoration
You can almost see him striding down the narrow lane, his chattels hanging in a handkerchief from a pole across his shoulder, his black cat at his side.
For this was once the property of the legendary Dick Whittington, the poor country boy who went to London to seek his fortune.
Corse Court, an ancient timber long house deep in the Forest of Dean, was just a few miles from Whittington's birthplace, Pauntley, Gloucestershire.
In Whittington's day the 13th Century house was a cruck-framed manor.
