Anne Marie de Gendt has written a welcome critical study of one of the most important medieval French conduct books, the Livre du Chevalier de la Tour Landry pour l'enseignement de ses filles, completed in 1372 by Geoffrey IV de la Tour Landry for his young daughters. Scholarly spadework on this treatise includes a 1911 monograph on its sources; John Grigsby's work in the 1960s on the Chevalier's debt to the Franciscan Miroir de bonnes femmes; and more recent critical discussions.
