The grumbling gets louder every day. An economy that experienced negative growth in 2003, coupled with high interest rates and an ongoing political scandal, are topping many Brazilian's complaint lists about President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his ruling Workers' Party, or PT.

The left-leaning administration that entered office last January promising economic growth, reform and more jobs finds itself 15 months later unable to keep its word and busy explaining its agenda to both opponents and traditional allies.
