DETROIT, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan mailed coupons that give $5 off the over-the-counter version of Prilosec to more than 12,000 of its health plan members who could benefit from a coupon for medication used to treat frequent heartburn. The coupon expires May 31, 2004. The Blues recommend that members consult their physicians before taking Prilosec OTC.
This is the first time that the company has offered coupons directly to members for an over-the-counter drug that does not require a prescription. The company previously offered coupons connected to use of generic drugs requiring a prescription.
