NEW YORK - Sure there are summer cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean, but until last year, two decades had passed since a cruise ship sailed year-round out of a Northeastern port.
Cashing in on the reluctance of some travelers to deal with airport hassles, Norwegian Cruise Line, which sails from Boston to Bermuda in the summer (May to October), scheduled its newest and largest ship, the 92,250-ton, 2,244-passenger Norwegian Dawn, to head south on a year-round basis from New York. The staple itinerary is a Sunday departure for Port Canaveral (near Orlando), Miami, NCL's private Bahamas island and Nassau.
