UW-Stevens Point made history Saturday night, and the wild ride was as unnerving as it was unprecedented.
In a span of 2 hours, Stevens Point became the first NCAA Division III school to send teams in three sports - men's basketball, women's basketball and women's hockey - to the national semifinals in one winter season.
"We did it in regulation, the men's basketball team did it in overtime and the women's hockey team did it in double overtime," said women's basketball coach Shirley Egner, a McFarland native. "If you were a Pointer fan on that night you needed to have a strong heart."
