The failure of the Microsoft-EC settlement talks had little to no impact on Microsoft's stock. Its shares fell 1% to $24.89 in Nasdaq trading on Thursday and it was a lousy day on the Street anyway.
Goldman Sachs analyst Rick Sherlund expressed disappointment but figures the possible half-a-billion-dollar fine the company could be slapped with is pocket change to Microsoft and said the unbundled version of Windows is not "a serious change in Microsoft's business model," an opinion Microsoft might not share.
Sherlund appeared more interested in what Microsoft was going to do with the rest of its treasure after it pays the fine. He expects Microsoft to say ...
