Mar. 19--FALL RIVER, Mass. -- A spill of caustic soda outside an industrial pigments plant sent one police officer to the hospital and blocked off Quequechan Street for several hours yesterday.
The accident occurred when a worker for Univar USA, a chemical distributor on Terminal Road, in Providence, apparently failed, witnesses said, to properly seal the tanker just before it was pressurized to pump the chemical, sodium hydroxide, into the E.C. Pigments plant at 749 Quequechan St.
