Asthma is a pervasive, chronic disease affecting more than 20.3 million Americans; yet, the public is overwhelmingly unaware that the most common form of asthma is triggered by allergens (i.e., pollen, pet dander) rather than irritants (i.e., exercise, weather changes). Additionally, only half of asthma sufferers have their asthma under control.
The American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) have joined forces to develop Is Your Asthma Allergic? Know Your IgE, a new campaign to educate the public about allergic asthma, including ways to recognize the symptoms and causes.
