Inspired by the notion of power tools with built-in power sources, independent inventor John Picone of Oceanside, NY, designed a battery-powered adjustable wrench. Shaped like a conventional adjustable wrench, the Durawrench also includes two batteries, two switches, and a drive motor to open and close the jaws of the wrench, along with a manual-override for thumb adjustment. A built-in safety feature limits the applied torque to 200 in.-lbs. When that torque limit is reached, the jaws automatically release, preventing damage to the fitting.
