Mar. 21--Richie Stenquist cut his teeth as a broker at one of the nation's premier investment firms. Then he heard the call of the wild and launched his own commodity trading firm.
By 1999, a series of sour investments sent most of his clients packing.
His trading account held a scant $14,000, and he borrowed $100,000 by the skin of his teeth, hocking his suburban Minneapolis home and doling out $5,000 to his wife for personal expenses and $5,000 to keep his office open and pay his secretary one more month.
