Facing a three-count federal indictment charging him with tax evasion, Winston (Win) Borden was extraordinarily frank this week as he contemplated his role in what appears to be a self-made disaster.
"I think I did a good job representing my clients," said the 60-year-old lobbyist. "I did a miserable job looking after my own affairs."
For two decades Borden was a highly visible public figure - first as a DFL state senator from Brainerd with a reputation as an environmentalist during the 1970s, and later as a fierce advocate for business as president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce in the 1980s.
