SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 20 million Americans have asthma -- a chronic disease that is becoming more prevalent, and more severe. Asthma leads to an estimated 14 million missed days of school each year and 1.8 million visits to emergency departments. About 12 million people have asthma attacks each year, and nearly 5,000 people die from asthma.
