WAY out in the wild west, there is still a ferry to the Isle of Skye that offers a fast, scenic crossing, almost as convenient as that hideous bridge and far more enjoyable.
It's the oldest, shortest crossing to the Misty Isle - in Jacobite days, our terrified Government even built a barracks to guard it - and you reach this ferry, across the straits of Kylerhea from the township of Glenelg, by abandoning the main highway at Sheil Bridge and forking left.
