Mar. 24--A nonprofit group that watchdogs the Valdez oil tanker port today plans to petition the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for tighter control of air pollution at the dock.
The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council says treatment of ballast water from ships is allowing dangerous benzene vapors to escape into the air, possibly endangering public health.
