Dhaka, Mar 23 (UNB) - Efforts could be made for a common agriculture commodity market in South Asia under the planned SAFTA negotiations by SAARC countries, an agricultural researcher said here today (Tuesday).

"Trade in agriculture commodities is an important agenda of SAFTA... a common agriculture market in the region can also be an innovative idea," PK Joshi, a research fellow of International Food Policy Research Institute (IFRPI), told reporters.

Joshi, also a South Asia coordinator of Washington-based IFRFI, is in Dhaka in connection with the 5-day workshop on "Methods for Analyzing Markets and Market Reforms for High-Value Agriculture" ...
