Mar. 26--Jasper County is renewing its quest for a shipping terminal on nearly 1,800 acres inside its borders but owned by Georgia.
The County Council agreed this month to form its own ports authority as part of another attempt to acquire the land. County leaders say they are eager to create jobs and are weary of lackluster state support for the proposed terminal.
For more than a decade, Jasper County officials have dreamed about turning Georgia's property into a container terminal.
But Georgia ignored Jasper's offer to buy the property for $8.5 million, ...
