With coverage that focused on its home UW-Madison campus as well as major issues in Wisconsin, The Daily Cardinal did better than almost all other regional student newspapers in Friday's Society of Professional Journalists Awards.
The society named the Cardinal, one of two independent morning newspapers on the UW-Madison campus, runner-up in the "Best All-Around Daily Newspaper" category, behind The Minnesota Daily.
