The Aerospace Industry Association has called on the federal government to increase funding for aerospace research and development. In its new five-year R & D plan, AIA says the federal government needs to increase funding for the Federal Aviation Administration's civil aeronautics research by $3.8 billion over the next five years. It also calls for an increase of $34 billion over the next five years for NASA. It says NASA's aeronautics budget should be $1.7 billion in 2005, up from the current projection of $900 million, which would be an 11 percent drop from 2004.
AIA also says that NASA should develop a new manned space vehicle by 2010, instead of 2014 as is ...
