The dental insurance plans are expanding and already amount to 4mil clients all over Brazil. The number is insignificant if compared to the health plans market that totals 38mil users but suggests a huge growth potential. In 1999 the dental plans served 1.9mil people. According to market regulatory entity ANS (Agencia Nacional de Saude Suplementar) there are 480 dental insurance carriers in Brazil. The leading of the market, Odontoprev registered an increase of 25% in its clients portfolio, which expanded from 640,000 to 800,000 over the past two years.
