The government of Brazil will announce the strategy directed at the semiconductor segment soon, in which it plans to invest in the creation of training and development centers of chip. Rio Grande do Sul state is expecting for this support since it inked a deal with Motorola for technology transferring in 2001. This project, which has been inactive due to the lack of resources, is already known as Ceitec (Centro de Excelencia em Tecnologia Eletronica Avancada) and may need R$80mil investments to produce ASIC chips (used in specific applications).
