Jodhpur, Mar 30 (PTI) Lentana, a sturdy exotic flowering plant imported from Indonesia, is fast wiping out the local flora in the Mount Abu hills in north-western India by its weedy growths and all efforts to curb its spread have failed, experts said here.
The plant, known for its fragrant yellow and red decorative flowers, is spreading like a wild fire in Mount Abu hills wiping out the entire useful herbal vegitation, forest department officials said.
"The exotic plant was imported mainly because of its beauty and floral fragrance", a plant ecologist with Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Dr Suresh Kumar said.
