Birmingham's Broad Street could shed its drunken image and become a 'cafe culture' quarter under radical new plans considered at a summit meeting last night.
Proposals to transform the beleaguered nightclub and pub district by banning drinks promotions and introducing a plastic bottle scheme were considered by council officials, police, taxi drivers' representatives, local licensees and other Broad Street traders.
