Joe's Stone Crabs, a 90-year-old landmark upscale Miami Beach restaurant, filed a lawsuit in early February against Landry's Restaurants, based in Houston. The suit claims Joe's Crab Shack, Landry's casual-dining concept, infringes upon Joe's Stone Crabs' trademark in the Florida market. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in the southern district of Florida.
Joe's claims Landry's violated a 1996 agreement between the two companies when it opened two Joe's Crab Shack restaurants in Broward and Collier counties, according to court documents.
