Influential, Canadian-born photographer Reva Brooks died at the age of 90 on January 24, 2004 in Mexico. Selected as one of the top 50 women photographers of all time by the San Francisco Art Museum in 1975. Brooks and her artist husband, Leonard Brooks moved to Mexico in 1947 and began their journey of exploring the vibrant Mexican culture through their art.
Born in Toronto on May 10, 1913 to Polish immigrants. Brooks was part of a seven-sibling family including the late Al, Bunny and David Silverman. After dropping out of high school and working as a secretary in Toronto, she married Leonard Brooks in 1936.
