2004 APR 5 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- New Mexico's hay fever season has arrived with a vengeance.
"The junipers are going now," said Curtis Smith, a horticulture specialist with New Mexico State University. "They started a few weeks ago. Watching the trees I see that the buds are swelling on the elm trees. That will hit very soon. After that, the mulberries will start."
Albuquerque and Santa Fe ranked in the top five worst cities for allergies this week on pollen.com, a Web site owned by Surveillance Data Inc. in Pennsylvania. On a scale from zero to 12, pollen counts for both cities are predicted at 11.4 March 17, 2004, and 11.3 March 18, 2004.
