WASHINGTON _ Now even British citizens will have to be fingerprinted and photographed before they can enter the United States, thanks to a decision announced Friday by the Bush administration to expand a post-Sept. 11, 2001 program to screen foreigners.
Currently, citizens from every country in the world except 27 U.S. allies must comply with the heightened security measures. Beginning Sept. 30, citizens of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Japan and 22 other U.S. allies also will be subject to the heightened security measures under the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology program.
