THERE are 600 banks on Grand Cayman. Not bad for an island with a population of just 39,000.
They are not banks as you or I would know them. No stiff notes from Mr Torquemada from the Inquisition Bank every time you go overdrawn.
This is where your dollar just sits around all day in its swimming trunks, pina colada in hand, enjoying a tax-free life of sunshine and making babies with other dollars so that at the end of the fiscal year - bingo, you have lots more dollars lounging by the pool.
Mind you, it's a great place ...
