LOS ANGELES -- Hellboy is his name, and big-time movie stardom is his game.
Ron Perlman stars in the $60 million production that brings "Hellboy,'' based on Mike Mignola's Dark Horse comics series, to theaters today. Move over Superman, Spiderman and Batman. There's a new boy in town, and he comes from Hades.
The cast is already contracted for sequels, and action figures of Hellboy as a baby and adult are flying off store shelves. Still, the movie is a risk because it has no big-name star.
Perlman, a classically trained actor best known for playing the beast half of the cult 1980s TV series ...
