In a recent NOP survey carried out by Nu-Mega Ingredients--suppliers of omega-3 DHA for food enrichment consumers were said to be more than twice as likely to buy products enriched with DHA than they are to take supplements or buy oily fish (the natural source of DHA), to enrich their daily diet with this brain boosting ingredient.
DHA is a vital component of cardiovascular and brain health, but levels in the UK diet are less than half the amount recommended by the government. Oily fish is the best natural source of DHA, but 66% of the population don't eat it, and recent publicity over high levels of mercury in oily fish have added to the problem.
