It took a long, long time, and in the end, the countries involved in an international dispute couldn't agree, so they asked World Trade Organization director general Supachai Panitchpakdi to decide.
Finally, there is a three-man panel in place to hear WTO challenges to the European Union's de facto ban on approvals of genetically modified (GM) crops.
Supachai appointed on March 4 Christian Haberli of Switzerland, Mohan Kumar of India and Akio Shimizu of Japan to the panel to hear the dispute.
