Using contemporary psychological theoretical perspectives, this research assesses motivation and physical self-perception profiles and global self-esteem variables (GSE) in relation to physical activity levels within a group of 516 English girls aged 11 to 16. The results revealed that 40% of the sample were moderately motivated and in one cluster, 30% were lowly motivated and in two clusters and 30% were highly motivated and in two clusters.
