Apr. 5--The long-awaited opening of Morris County's newest links, the Berkshire Valley Golf Course in Jefferson, is scheduled for May 1.
Nature has done its work and the greens have taken root, making the par-71 mountaintop course ready for play -- although golfers will have to deal with trailers serving as a makeshift clubhouse until the real one is completed in the fall.
That should be a small inconvenience to golfers, who have endured a two-year delay and at least $8 million in cost overruns while waiting for the course to open.
