In 1978, it was a 4,600-square-foot fixer-upper. But Bill and Lynn Whitford were undaunted by the size, the gruesome colors, the rotting floors or the generations of pigeons and bats who had made their home in the attic of the landmark Prairie style house at 1047 Sherman Ave.
The Whitfords saw beyond a neglected historic house with its best days in the past, and envisioned its future as a large family home, with plenty of space to accommodate friends and visitors from all over the world.
