Church services, flowers, colored eggs in baskets and Easter egg hunts have long been and continue to be a part of Easter.
But there was a day when Easter meant a chance to win all kinds of prizes.
In 1957, the top prize in one Easter promotion was a burro, just what every young city kid needed.
In April 1957, businesses in downtown Newport were beginning to feel the competition from the recently opened Newport Shopping Center.
