SAN ANTONIO - In the end, it just had to be Emeka Okafor.
Ben Gordon, whose 36 points in the regional final helped UConn get to the title game, had two fine games at the Final Four, but it was Okafor who carried the Huskies to their second national championship in six years. That's why he was selected as the Final Four's Most Valuable Player.
What's odd is he did all his damage in three halves.
