WASHINGTON _ The History Channel has apologized to Lady Bird Johnson and her family ``with deep regret" and to its viewers for a controversial program that implicated former President Lyndon Johnson in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and will air a special Wednesday night with three historians who discredit the original telecast.
The History Channel reviewed the program, ``The Guilty Men," after protests by former Presidents Carter and Ford and former first lady Johnson as well as the vocal intervention of four former LBJ aides.
