CSX TRANSPORTATION: EVACUATION OF SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY., LIFTED LAST NIGHT
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The evacuation of the town of Shepherdsville, Ky., was lifted last night after a rail car loaded with propylene oxide was removed from the area, CSX Transportation Inc. announced today.
The town of 4,200 people was evacuated following a train accident on Tuesday. The derailment destroyed two of the three rail spans over the river, sending 13 cars over the embankment. An ensuing fire in the wreckage in the river prompted emergency responders to order the town's evacuation shortly after the 12:15 p.m. accident.
