Technically speaking, "Treasures from the Royal Tombs of Ur" at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology doesn't qualify as a "special exhibition" because all the material in it belongs to the museum.
Yet it is very special, as thousands of museum-goers around the United States have discovered over the last few years.
The Ur treasures, back in Philadelphia temporarily after a national tour, represent an extraordinary window into one of the most ancient Middle Eastern societies, the Sumerians who lived in Ur during the middle of the Third Millenium B.C.
