Westford's Devens Development LLC has begun the first phase of Devens Common, a planned 26-acre central business district at the former Fort Devens military base.
"It is not often that you see the birth of a town center," said Robert Walker, Devens Development's president. "We are developing more than just a commercial center. We are developing the heart of a new community."
Plans call for building a 120-room Marriott hotel, 500-seat conference center, 20,000-square-foot office, restaurant, car wash, gas station and 34,000 square feet of retail space.
