Built in 1962 by Snamprogetti of the ENI group, the Bizerte refinery is owned and run by STIR. The plant often operates at more than its 35,000 b/d capacity, with demand for oil products in Tunisia limited to less than 70,000 b/d. The refinery processes crude oils from the Belli, Al Manzah and other fields.
Products refined at Bizerte include gasoline, gasoil, fuel oil, LPG, NGL, naphtha and paraffin. LPG is also produced at the Gabes gas processing plant (see Gas Market Trends of this ...
