A 6-run first inning by Brother Rice sunk Bartlett Saturday afternoon as the Hawks lost 12-2 in the semi-finals of the Schaumburg Flyers Baseball Classic at Alexian Field.
Bartlett starter Matt Malinowski lasted only two-thirds of an inning, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits, highlighted by a long 2-run triple off the bat of Brother Rice first baseman Mike Fazy.
Hawk relievers Kyle Simons and Ken Grear pitched well at times, but couldn't stem the tide as Brother Rice scored in every inning but the second.
