SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- For the first time in nearly half a century, South Korea is bracing for the emergence of a "progressive" party in its parliament, a development many experts say would drastically alter the country's conservative-dominated political landscape. Since the division of the Korean peninsula in 1945, leftist ideology has been a taboo in staunchly anti-communist South Korea. The country still has a law that makes it a crime even to possess Marxist literature.
