From floating debris to reckless drivers, boaters face a long list of potential hazards on the Ohio River. But Mike McDevitt never figured a sniper would be one of them.
The 50-year-old Anderson Township man was at the helm of his friend's $150,000 cabin cruiser Sunday night on the craft's inaugural cruise of the season. As McDevitt steered the 35-foot boat, with six passengers aboard, past the Anchor Inn Marina in Dayton, Ky., at about 8:30 p.m., he heard what sounded like fireworks. They were gunshots.
