Apr. 14--TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The growing appetite for natural gas from Florida electric companies persuaded Gov. Bush and the Cabinet to give fast-track approval Tuesday to two pipeline projects to transfer the fuel from the Bahamas, along the sea beds, under pristine coral reefs and into Broward County.
State officials, concerned about environmental damage to the fragile reefs and questioning the need for two massive pipelines to bring in the vaporized fuel, had postponed the decision a month ago.
