When introduced in 1998 as a mid-sized sport-utility vehicle (SUV), the Dodge Durango carried the same boldly carved architecture that had helped the Dodge Ram stand out from the rest of the pack in the full-size pickup class. Dodge advertised the Durango as being the "right size," and consumers loved the brawny, if not quite full-size, SUV.
