If liquefied natural gas (LNG) is to fulfill its potential as a future energy source for North America, the odds are new terminals in the Gulf Coast will have to shoulder most of the burden.
Over 40 LNG projects have been proposed across the continent, ringing both the East and West coasts of the US and Mexico, as well as the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Canada. Most of these will never be built, and when the dust settles projects in the Gulf of Mexico appear most likely to emerge successful.
