Apr. 16--San Diego Coffee, Tea & Spice didn't want to lose to Starbucks.
The local wholesale coffee supplier, which has about 450 customers, had an opportunity to gain a potential audience of 42,000 people at every Padres home game.
But facing tough competition, San Diego Coffee had to figure out how to impress the team. So for its presentation, company CEO Lawrence Holland thought it made sense to create a coffee called "Ballpark Blend."
After four months of negotiations, and nearly a year after initially approaching the Padres, San Diego Coffee won ...
